Automated Polishing & Finishing
Janos has
recently updated its polishing capabilities by adding one of the most
advanced polishing and finishing machines in the industry. The QED
Q22-Y magnetorheological finishing, or MRF, technology uses an abrasive
fluid whose shape and stiffness can be controlled in real time by
an electromagnet. The real-time control and fluid flow enables the
users to maintain a constant, well-characterized, and fast removal
rate without creating subsurface damage in the optic.
This technology allows for better than 10nm peak-to-valley optical
surfaces, and RMS microroughness of less than 1.0nm. MRF technology
has the ability to polish many different materials, including most
optical glasses and single crystals such as calcium fluoride, making
it ideal for polishing visible and Near-IR optics.
Additional Capabilities:
• Work piece diameter range 10 - 254mm diameter
• Raster tool path for expanded capabilities
• Figure correction of diamond turned aspherical & spherical
surfaces
• Figure & Angle correction for plano surface windows, mirrors,
prisms & wedges
• Surface figure capability: 1/20 λ @ 0.6328µm depending
on configuration of optic
• Materials:
