Quartz (SiO2)
Cultured Quartz is a crystal used primarily for prisms, but also for windows and lenses in the ultraviolet. Its useful transmission range is 0.18 to 2.5µm. Cultured Quartz exhibits modest bi-refringence. Its refractive index varies from about 1.65 to 1.55 through the transmission range. Orientation of the optical axis along the crystal c-axis produces higher VUV transmission.
