Sodium Chloride (NaCl)
Sodium Chloride is used for CO2 laser optics and windows, lenses, and prisms where transmission to 16µm is desired. Because of its low absorption, NaCl is being used in high power laser systems. Polished surfaces must be protected from moisture by exposing to only a dry atmosphere or by using a heating element to maintain the temperature of the NaCl part above the ambient temperature.
