Janos
and the Defense Industry
In advanced Defense infrared optical assemblies, Janos Technology has
long offered customers “world class” precision, quality and reproducibility
from the Engineering
Design and Development phase of a program through to high rate production.
Janos combines complete design capabilities in optics, mechanics, electronics
and coatings with advanced manufacturing including diamond
turning, automated optical fabrication and coating.
These design and manufacturing strengths allow Janos to offer its Defense
customer’s quick turnaround in high performance prototypes as well as
industry leading quality, consistency and pricing in long term production
programs. Defense and aerospace customers for Janos include Raytheon,
Lockheed Martin, and Northrop Grumman.

Expanding Capabilities to Meet Your Needs
For over 30 years, Janos Technology has been a leader in
precision infrared optical solutions using a broad range of materials
to meet system wave band requirements from 1-40 microns. In addition to
optical solutions which have focused on individual MWIR and LWIR applications,
today Janos offers new products designed to support 3 to 12 microns, simultaneously.
In build-to-print applications Janos supports a wide array of infrared
diffractive and refractive designs.

Janos Job Book
For long term production programs, whether design or build-to-print,
ask about our Janos Job Book (JJB) process for guaranteed quality and
reproducibility throughout the entire program. In addition to our MIL-STD
quality processes, each program incorporating the JJB includes the following
standard elements.
Although the
exact content of each Job Book will vary from job to job, there are some
basic elements that help define the process.
- Process
Flowchart – This illustrates all of the various processes surrounding
a program, from administration to shipping.
- Manufacturing
Flowchart – This flowchart details all of the manufacturing steps required
to create a part. Specific work and inspection procedures are called
out.
- Work Instructions
– Controlled copies of the work instructions called out in the flowcharts
are included in the Job Book. This includes Manufacturing, Coating (if
applicable), and Quality.
- APQP (Advanced
Product Quality Planning) – Identifies every characteristic of a given
part, the tolerances for that characteristic, how it is to be verified,
and actions that are to be taken should a failure be encountered.
- Lot Traveler
– A copy of the bar-coded lot traveler that follows parts throughout
their manufacture is included in the Job Book.
- Inspection
Sheet(s) – A copy of any inspection sheets used in the manufacturing
process is included for reference as well.
Janos’ history
of success and high performance provides each customer the confidence
required for important prototype or large production programs. Backing
up our proven performance record is the Engineering design strength, the
advanced production facilities, and the Quality JJB processes which combine
to make Janos’ offering unique in the industry.
