Janos Increases Custom Lens Generating Options

Janos expands its realm in optics with a new 5-axis generating machine that provides the capability to efficiently generate optics of virtually any aspheric and spherical profile. This new equipment furthers our competitive position by enabling us to be more effective with regards to two of our most critical customer satisfiers:  lower cost and reduced delivery time.  Some of the geometries that make use of this new capability include non-symmetric O.D.'s and I.D.'s, various types of truncations, radius bevels or edges, centering, and other custom profiling.

Janos is pleased to welcome our third major recruit in four months, new Thin Film Coatings Department Manager Darrel B. Fuller.  Fuller brings with him more than twenty years of experience in development of infrared and visible thin films for commercial and military applications.  He comes to Janos from Murrieta, CA, where he spent the past 12 years working for Exotic Electro Optics as a Senior Development Engineer.

An indication of the enterprise-wide progress Janos is driving, Fuller immediately will begin upgrading equipment, developing new coating capabilities and increasing production.  He also is interested in introducing to Janos new processes for non-thoriated coatings.  Watch for enhanced coatings capabilities to come.
